For the past 6 months I attended the minor Interactive Environments. This multidisciplinary minor program is focussed on designing and building interactive installations. In a team of students with mixed backgrounds we designed an interactive pet, called Liv.
Liv’s purpose is to help patients in the Princess Máxima Centre for Pediatric Oncology to stay physically and socially active while they’re in the hospital. We designed Liv to be like some kind of pet a patient has to take care of. The patient can make Liv healthier by playing with her or by letting her play with another Liv. By doing this, the patients themselves are also physically active and looking for other patients.
If you want to see Liv in action, you can visit us at the Faculty of Industrial Design at the TU Delft (24-01-2014 / 30-01-2014) or at the IxDA conference at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam (05-02-2014 / 08-02-2014).
